Innovation: Silicon Valley versus East Coast, and the winner is….
We meet last week during the RealChange Google Retail Learning Expedition Bill O’Connor from TheVault. A very inspiring and energetic guy !
Bill explained us why most Innovations are coming from the Valley and not from Boston or New York. Even if there is just about 700000 people living in San Francisco, 20 $billions are raised by VC every year, so something is happening here.
MIT in Boston is developing technologies, but technologies are not Innovation! Companies are creating innovation using technologies and startups. To illustrate his speech, he used this slide showing 40 very innovative companies doing great business.
But guess what?
How many of these are from Boston ? Zero !
How many are from New York? Maybe Three !
All the others are from the valley !
The Mindset needed to really innovate is only present in the Valley , nowhere else he said.
